Twilight Ball Recollections

Hodandu, 6 Arhat, 391 years, 206 days since the victory of Lanival the Redeemer, in the year of the Crystal Snowhare.

I’ve been a bit remiss about writing in my journal. I keep telling myself its for posterity, but life does have a way of running away with me. Anyway, Cel and I did make it the Twilight Ball. And what an occasion! Lords and ladies in all shades of twilight, gems sparkling from throats, hair, and wrists…it was a sight to behold! I saw many friends that I hadn’t been in touch with recently and was happy to catch up. Of course, there were a few enemies among the throng but we steered clear of them.

The food was delicious and was only slightly less wonderful than the dancing! Cel twirled me around the floor for hours. By the time we left, I needed to remove my slippers. That’ll teach me not to break in a new pair before a big event.

Anyway, Guildleader Silvyrfrost was at the gathering as were several other leaders. She looked rather beautiful, but then, she always does. Someone (I can’t remember who) asked her to sing a song and she replied that she heard enough people singing her songs daily that she’d rather not repeat them. That particular comment made me laugh since I’ve heard plenty horrible renditions of Nissa’s Ride.

The cap on the whole evening was the special news announced by Prince Vorclaf that Princess Arilana had finally given birth…to twins. The first born, Princess Inavia, and her brother, Prince Belirendrick IV, are reported to look much like their human father rather than their mother. It will be interesting to see what kind of developments arise from this announcements.

Stranger In Town

Kertandu, 2 Arhat, 391 years, 202 days since the victory of Lanival the Redeemer, in the year of the Crystal Snow Hare.

Well, I managed to miss the Knight at the Improv but when I ran back to the Phoenix Inn, I found a group of people chatting, most of whom I knew. One stood out, a Kaldaran Bardess. Not sure where Lady Adisla hails from but apparently she’s making Shard her new home. I invited her to tea and hopefully she’ll come by. I hope to learn more about why she is here and what it means for the guild.

Summer is here finally!

Faeandu, 34 Shorka, 391 years, 154 days since Lanival the Redeemer, in the Year of the Crystal Snow Hare.

Summer has finally made its appearance! The rain has stopped and the weather is finally warming my bones. Perfect weather to travel in. We didn’t make it to Muspari yet, but I’ve yet to contact a Moon Mage to help with the gating. Maybe Shellwind will help.

Celt and I went up to Crossing the other day to shop. Ran into a full scale invasion instead. The dinegos shambled their way through town and managed to kill the kindly old monk in front of the Cleric’s guild. It was a sad day indeed. He was quite kind and gentle to all and will be missed sorely.

Afterwards, we ran down to Ilya Taipa and back home again. The weather is just too perfect not to sit outside and try out new drying combinations. At the moment, I have chamomile, wine-red apples, and honey in my pyramid. We’ll see how they come out.

Spring Rains

It has been 391 years, 144 days since the Victory of Lanival the Redeemer.
It is the 4th month of Shorka the Cobra in the year of the Crystal Snow Hare.

The weather turned today. Springtime is a time for squalling rains, I suppose, but I don’t have to like it. No sun means no drying of foragables either. But, instead of staying indoors in front of a roaring fire, Celturian and I decided to run to Zoluren for a shopping trip. Got my basilisk arrows dyed in Leth and then decided at the last moment to run to Crossing for the Bards Night.

We stayed for a few moments. Cel doesn’t like to stay in town much, not that I blame him. Crossing has changed since I was a child. Anyway, the gift from the Bards Night was a silverwood pick with a stein on it. Or something to that affect. Plus we grabbed some dinner and drink and were on our way home in a matter of rois. Did see Amphetra (thats been a long time) and Celendi. Didn’t get a chance to say hello to Zandari though. When we left, the Limerick contest was in full swing.

Next week we must take a trip to Muspari. Cel needs a formal outfit for the Twilight ball. My outfit is complete but, being the outdoorsy Elf that he is, Celturian lacks the finer clothes for a night in front of the Prince and Princess of Zoluren.

As a side note, the cherry blossoms were a bust. First they wilted and then they died. So cherry blossom tea is out. But, I have high hopes for other flowers. Keeping a list now of what I find out and will add to the back of my journal as soon as I get things figured out.

Musings on a Spring Day

It has been 391 years, 139 days since the Victory of Lanival the Redeemer.
It is the 4th month of Shorka the Cobra in the year of the Crystal Snow Hare.

Sitting in front of my home, practicing my instruments on a truly lovely Spring day. We found out in the past few days that chamomile won’t dry in a pyramid. This is a bit of a disappointment since I was looking forward to chamomile tea. However, I’ve managed to dry and crush roses so the experiment with rose tea can go forward.

In the meantime, I’m drying small cherry blossoms. At least, I’m trying to. They seem to be taking quite a bit longer than I had imagined. I’ll give it a day or so before giving up on these as well.

There was an invasion in Shard two days ago. I was asleep at the time, although Celturian wondered how I could sleep through all the racket. What can I say? I’m a sound sleeper and dreamed the dreams of the innocent. Anyway, the Hive woke up again and, once again, the Rangers had a premonition? vision? of what was to happen. This is the second time, I believe, that it has happened. We can only guess at what is to come. Celturian managed to lose his favorite sword during the invasion, too. I’m going to keep my eye out for a forged scimitar for him.

As a side note, it seems that lavender has disappeared fron the Lands. Rangers and others of high foraging skills cannot find it, even its normal foraging spots. Since lavender is a preferred offering of Meraud, one has to wonder if magic is about to “break” once more. Of course, the Gods may have decided to change the season of growth for this foragable. Time will only tell.
